Masterpiece from Italia- Pagani Huayra

Every now and then car manufacturers bring us cars that we can easily call masterpieces. There is a lot of example for that, for instance Alfa Romeo 8C Competizione, Koenigsegg Agera, 1962 Ferrari 250 GTO etc... I could easily count for days but lets stop there. Recently one manufacturer brought another masterpiece on roads. That manufacturer is known as company that makes Mona Lisa's from cars and cars that you can easily put in museum as exhibition piece. We are talking about Pagani.

We could talk about Pagani and their cars for months and we still wouldn't be able to say everything we want because every single car they produced was masterpiece. I know that they have only two models but every model has several special editions and all of them looks astonishing. Just look at Zonda and its special edition Cinque, Tricolore and Zonda R.

Really,I can't think of any car they produced that doesn't look as porn on wheels. Last car they gave us is Pagani Huayra and personally, for me, they did hell of a job. I can't find not a single piece on this car that's bad looking or stupid looking or out of "looks over performance" function. Attention to details goes that far that you can have a major crash and die because you will go 200 MPH and you will get distracted and look at dashboard or gadgets or something else.

Just look at that interior. It's like a whole another level in design division in comparison to other car manufacturers. Although I'm not such huge fan of Pagani because of several reasons (first of all, I will never be able to buy one, second of all, if I'm ever going to be able to buy it I would live in fear of driving it because I will always think that someone will crash it and last reason, I would probably die in my first drive because I will get distracted by details in the car while going 200 MPH), I can't say that I wouldn't like to own one.

Magical place where this car is producing is in Modena, Italy. It was introduced in Geneva Auto Salon in 2011 and it immediately draw huge attention on itself.

The main reason for that, besides magical looks, are performances of the car. It uses 6.0 l twin-turbo V12 engine built by AMG and it develops 720 HP and 1100 Nm of torque. It is capable of doing 0-60 MPH (0-100 KMH) in just 2.8 seconds and top speed of 238 MPH (283 KMH).

The engine is basically engine that Mercedes uses in AMG models but with few differences. It's hand built, it has reduced turbo lag, improved response, it uses smaller turbochargers, different intercooler configuration and re-programmed ECU settings.

Interesting fact is that Huayra uses dry sump lubrication that has several key benefits. It's guarantees that oil will flow even when the car is subjected to extreme lateral acceleration, preventing "oil surge" which allows the engine to operate more efficiently while the lack of an oil pan allows mounting the engine lower, lowering the center of gravity and improving handling.

It also uses water/oil heat exchanger which reduces engine warm up times on cold days and helps maintaining a staple temperature for refrigerants and lubricants.

Pagani made sure also that they don't heap up the engine bay with pipes and fittings. Even the engine bay had "looks over performance" function. To prevent that, the expansion tank is mounted directly on the engine. Intercooler is basically fitted on such way that it acts like expansion tank circuit at low temperatures.

SPECIAL EDITIONS

1. Carbon Edition

It features a full carbon built on wheels, body and most of the interior. The interior features red leather seats, carbon fiber on dashboard, steering wheel and other parts of the interior. Specifications of the car remained the same, only the price went into the sky. It costs around $5 000 000.

2. White edition

It features a white and carbon exterior, a white and black interior and aluminum wheels.

3. La Monza Lisa edition

It features tricolore racing stripes and side stripes inspired by the Zonda Revolucion and bright red interior with white stitching inspired by Zonda F Roadster.

4. 730s / Da Vinci

This car was built in collaboration with Pagani and famous Youtuber Alejandro Salomon. The 730 stands for 730 metric horsepower (720 HP) and S stands for Salomon. The design features tricolore lines inspired by Pagani Zonda Tricolore and a gold line on both sides which was inspired by Pagani Zonda R.

5. Huayra BC

Huayra BC is more extreme version od regular Huayra and it's called BC after the Benny Ciaola who was friend of Horacio Pagani and first customer of Pagani car. It features upgraded version of standards Huayra 6.0 l V12 engine and it produces  739 HP and 1000 Nm of torque. The body is much lighter because of larger use of carbon fibers. It also has lighter  titanium exhaust, new wheels and striped interior. Huayra BC also has new front bumper with splitter and winglets, deeper side skirts and air diffuser that stretches the entire width of the rear bumper and massive rear wing.

6. Pearl edition

It features split rear wing inspired by the old Pagani Zonda C12 and the roof air scoop inspired by Pagani Zonda Cinque.

7. Dinastia edition

The name for the car was inspired by Nine Dragon Wall in China. At first Pagani decided to produce only 3 examples and they were all sold. The design of cars reflects Horatio Pagani's visit with each unit's livery  design resembling one of the dragons on the wall and it also has an aerodynamic fin on the rear, most likely to resemble a dragons tail.
